Lets leave the deck hand on the dock and take the owner. You may not catch as many fish and it will be a little slower but you do the work and set the lines bait the hooks of course with a little help but if you are like myself and want to play and not just get handed a rod this may be for you. Lost rods overboard in excitement will cost so you have to know a little about fishing. Cost will be about the same as with a deck hand depending on your interests or ability, lets talk
Questions & Answers
- Q. Can we keep the fish we catch?
A. Costa Rica practices a catch and release program for all bill fish but when a Dorado or tuna ect. takes a lure it can be kept.
- Q. Can we target a specific species?A. Yes in almost all cases we can increase our chances of a certain species, but its fishing and surprises can always and do happen. Its best to let the captain know as soon as possible about your desires.
- Q. What is the rate per day?
A. See above for the prices.
- Q. What is an average tip for the crew?
A. Unlike some places in Costa Rica we still be a tip should be earned for good service and good fishing as well as being good company. A tip from from 5% to 20% is quite common.
- Q. Does the boat have a clean, fresh washroom?
A. We pride ourselves on just that fact and its cleaner than some restaurants.
- Q. Do I need a Costa Rica fishing license.
A. Yes they are needed, 25 dollars for an annual licence and it is not included in the charter price. Purchased on the dock.
- Q. Is all necessary tackle and bait included in the price?
A. Yes, you are responsible though for all personnel items, glasses, sunscreen ect.
- Q. What are your rules as to drinking beer on your boat?
A. Unfortunately our insurance will not let us stock the boat directly with any liquor and hard liquor is frowned upon, but if you let us know in advance of any requests you have we will for a small charge arrange for you thirst quenchers.
